Following the North American power blackouts of 2003, decision-makers with the Province of Ontario, Canada’s most populous province chose to be proactive about critical infrastructure resilience by emulating the work done to map and model critical infrastructure dependencies in preparation for Y2K. RiskLogik created a comprehensive provincial critical infrastructure resilience model comprising eleven critical infrastructure sectors and over 1,300 individual critical infrastructure entities. The model is now held and operated by Emergency Management Ontario, in the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, where it serves as the system of reference for critical infrastructure decision-making at the province. It is currently the most advanced public sector critical infrastructure resilience model in the world and the Government of Ontario has engaged RiskLogik in a 10-year maintenance and upgrade agreement.
